If travelling to Esquel by car two main routes are possible ? Route 40 from the north and south, and Route 25, coming from Trelew city to the east. This town is located 354 miles away, and the road is in good condition and has beautiful scenery, especially in the area known as Los Altares, with imposing geological formations. Given the scenic vistas and because of safety reasons, it is recommended to cover this stretch in daylight.
Provincial Route 71 is another very attractive road running across the interior of Comarca de los Alerces, making the area easily accessible to visitors who can go to Cholila, Villa Lago Rivadavia, and most of Los Alerces National Park, while driving along the major lakes with unsurpassed views.
Esquel can also be negotiated from the Chilean populations of Futalefú, by Route 259, or Palena, crossing at Corcovado, 56 miles south of Esquel.

Several bus companies get to Esquel from different areas in Argentina and Chile, with daily services of varying quality. Fares from and to Buenos Aires range between AR$ 585 to AR$680 (ow), according to the type of service chosen.
