The Square
This square stands apart from other squares for its octagonal shape, with a diagonal street starting at each angle, which gives the village a special layout.
It is also the meeting point for artisans, artists, and neighbours from Esquel and Trevelin who every Sunday come to share games and enjoy the sunny afternoons.
Regional Mill Museum
Founded in 1971, this museum currently exhibits over a thousand items which attest to the most flourishing times of the colony.
School No. 18
It was one of the first schools in the Andes, and is a site of historical significance for all the Argentine people as the 1902 Plebiscite was signed here. Currently refurbished as a museum, its interior still keeps the rumour of the first children living in the settlement.
Malacara’s Tomb
An ideal place to recall the story of John Daniel Evans and his beloved horse, Malacara, as narrated by Mrs. Clery Evans, the granddaughter of this famous countryside character.
Bethel Chapel
Constructed in 1910 and restored in 1997. Its austere and simple lines express the settlers? religiousness. Their devotion combined education and religion with a series of rules exercising a certain social control. |
